The Solodkins Case
Wide public of Novosibirsk Region is following the so-called Solodkins Case. Regional mass media have already called it an attack against the regional authorities. Alexander Solodkin Sr. is the governor’s counselor and the head of the PE and Sports Foundation. His son, Alexander Solodkin Jr. take the position of vice-mayor of Novosibirsk. Both men were taken under arrest last week. They are accused of forming an organized criminal group and other related crimes.
Meanwhile, governor of Novosobirsk Region Viktor Tolokonsky was hospitalized last week with an unclear diagnosis.
SEZ in Tomsk
Vice-governor of Tomsk Region and director of the investments department, Alexei Baryshev was appointed general director of the special economic zone of technical type (SEZ TVT Tomsk, JSC). This special economic zone is controlled by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia through the company Special Economic Zones JSC, and by the regional administration through the Foundation of governmental property of Tomsk Region.
Alexei Baryshev left his position as vice-governor, but immediately was appointed governor’s counselor in investments.
Plans for the future
Indian company ArcelorMittal promised to invest about 1.1 billion rubles into the development of its facilities in Kuzbass. Most part of this money will be used to buy new equipment for refining of coal beds.
StroiService, which owns four open cut mines in Kemerovo Region, announced its plans of increasing investments by 28.5%.
SDS Holding announced opening of the first technical service facility to treat heavy duty trucks (Belaz).
Energy sector
MRSK Siberia confirmed its readiness to become investor in the construction of Chibit hydroelectric power station with the capacity of 24 mW. This station will make the lower part of the chain of small power plants on the river Chuya. It is remarkable that this power station will be able to supply electrocity to almost a quarter of mountainous Altai, without inflicting any damage to the ecology of this unique place.
According to the estimations made by the experts, the nature itself has created perfect conditions on the river Chuya, there will never be a threat of flooding. The dam will be constructed using local material.
