Coal mining weakness
Friday, July 25, Rostekhnadzor announced official results of the mass check-up at the mining facilities of Kuzbass. 40 out of 72 mines were closed due to violations of industrial safety regulations. Regional governor protested against the harsh critical remarks of the checking department. “This is the method to combine efforts at the weakest place. Unfortunately, Kemerovo Region is the weakest in the country now in terms of industrial safety”, Rostekhnadzor replied.
Discussions of the check-up results are planned in August. Working meetings will be held involving Anatoly Kvashnin, presidential envoy in the Siberian Federal District, Aman Tuleev, governor of Kuzbass and Leonid Baklitsky, director of the regional Rostekhnadzor division.
A long way
Last week in Kemerovo it was announced that the long waited for construction of a trunk road to Khakasia would be postponed to 2017. The road is needed to connect republic of Altai, Gornaya Shoria and republic of Khakasia.
Oleg Shurygin, director of administration of roads of Kemerovo Region, said at a press conference July 25 that repairing old roads should be accomplished first, before they could start new construction.
Siberian sports complex
Slovenian Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary Andrej Benedeicic led a delegation of Slovenian businessmen to Novosibirsk. Construction of a modern sport facility was on the agenda of the day. The project might require over 70 million euros of investments. Contractor agreement was signed with the Slovenian company Macro-5-Investments. Beside the general contractor the project will invite minor contractors from Canada, Germany and Latvia.
Airports in Altai
The Russian Federation decided to invest over 5 billion rubles into Altai airports and aviation industry. Aviation facilities will get money to renovate equipment which will increase the flow of tourists and businessmen into the area. This will also increase attractiveness of the special economic tourist zone “Turquoise Katun” and casino and gambling zone “Siberian Coin” (Sibirskaya Moneta).
Airports in Biisk, Barnaul and Gorno-Altaisk will be reconstructed in 2010.
Digital protection for television
Sibirtelecom, a leading telecommunications provider in the region, announced readiness to launch digital television sales to wide audience. IP-TV in Siberia is based on a well-known Verimatrix system of authorization and content management.
Test broadcasting is scheduled for August 1 in Krasnoyarsk and Tomsk.
