Ex-mayor of Miass
Governor of Chelyabinsk Region applied to the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev asking to remove penalty from ex-mayor of Miass Vladimir Grigoriadi convicted to 8 years of imprisonment in 2004 for bribery.
Vlamidir Grigoriadi applied to the Commission on granting pardon to prisoners which operates under the governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Pyotr Sumin. Ex-mayor of Miass asks to cut his term of imprisonment from 8 to 7 years, reported Ilya Ananiev, the governor’s press secretary.
Pyotr Sumin then asked Dmitry Medvedev to grant pardon to Grigoriadi who currently experiences serious health problems.
Spring seeding campaign
Seeding of wheat has been finished in Chelyabinsk Region by the end of last week. The seeding campaign will end on June 5 after the farmers are finished with other crops and plants.
Ivan Feklin, regional Minister of Agriculture, attracted attention of the farmers to timely preparation of fodder-harvesting machinery. Quality of fodder falls under special focus of the government this year, because the analytics shows that many problems in cattle breeding is directly connected with the quality of fodder. Low nutrition value of fodder is caused by violation of harvesting terms.
1.28 hectares of land is seeded with spring crops. “Chelyabinsk Region can be called a breadbasket of the nation, because in comparison with other regions, it possesses the vastest spaces of cultivated land for spring crops and demonstrates high speed of seeding”, underlined Andrey Kosilov, the first deputy governor.
Employment quotas for the graduates
Governor of the region Pyotr Sumin held a meeting with the Chelyabinsk coordination committee on employment facilitation on May 27, 2009. Systematic measures of the committee aim at stabilizing the situation with finding jobs. The new decision of the Committee concerns young specialists who have just graduated from the universities, colleges and technical schools. Enterprises of the region will receive additional support from the government if they offer 3% of jobs to the graduates.
Lay-offs
However, 360 organizations of the region have already informed the department of labor and employment of the plans to lay off 10 622 employees in the period from May through August. 18 enterprises informed about mass lay-offs of 4730 people.
102 140 people work only part time due to the decision of their employees. 15 352 people face dead time at work, 12 744 have been sent on vacation without severance payment.
The total number of unemployed people in Chelyabinsk Region currently makes 67 115 people. The official level of regional unemployment is 3.62%.
