Zabaikalsky Region
Regional election commission of Zabaikalsky Region has been officially formed and started work last week. Valery Buyanov was elected its chairman, Irina Peshkova became vice-chairman.
Governor of the region Ravil Geniatulin decided to cancel emergency regime which had been introduced last month in order to stop the spread of respiratory infections and dangerous flu type. Supervision agencies report sickness level has reduced by 10% in the past week.
Minister moves to Mongolia
Minister of Agriculture of Buryatia has been assigned new head of the Republic’s representative office in Mongolia. Jargal Batuev will start work in this new position on January 1, 2010. He will also keep his status of a minister. Assistant minister of agriculture Alexander Manzanov will temporarily perform the functions of a minister in Buryatia.
Federal Security Service
Federal Security Service opened a new office in Buryatia. Formerly, there was one frontier division of FSS to work in Zabaikalsky Region and Buryatia. President of Russia issued an order establishing a separate frontier division of the Service in the Republic. Its new director, colonel Sergey Komartsev, was introduced to the government of Buryatia last week.
Financial issues
Irkutsk government has got yet another vice-chairman. The position was specially created and given to ex-governor of the region Semen Zubakin. He headed the region in from 1998 to 2001 and then worked in the Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Federal Service for financial and budget control. What his powers and responsibilities in the government of Irkutsk Region will be, is yet not clear.
Angara bridge
The second part of the bridge over Angara river has been opened in Irkutsk last week. The bridge took 10 year to construct and over 10 billion rubles of investments. More works are required on the right bank of the river, where road junctions must be settled.
