Transport taxes
Kemerovo Regional Court recognized a special transport act of administration of Kemerovo illegal. This act issued in October 2009 prevented transport tax debtors from registration of their cars and getting MOT permits. Although this measure was acknowledged highly effective and helped eliminate multimillion tax debts, its legal basis was doubtful.
The court decree hasn’t come into effect immediately and administration of Kemerovo still has time to appeal it.
New school
Republic of Altai announced that a new school would open in the rural town Aktash. Aktash’s local school was destroyed by an earthquake in 2003. Reconstruction took a long time until Vladimir Putin decided to interfere. He visited the place in June 2009 and promised help. As a result, the school will be able to admit 400 students to classes in the second half of 2010.
Mayor of Barnaul
Investigation department of Altai Region prosecutor service decided to open the second criminal case against mayor of Barnaul Vladimir Kolganov. The first accusation states negligence at duty. The second is more severe and states exceeding powers. He is suspected of striking contracts with managing companies for maintenance of the municipal property under doubtful conditions. Estimated loss of the city budget makes 19 million rubles.
Snack market
One of Novosibirsk-based companies, federal snack market leader, Sibirsky Bereg sold 100% of shares to Konditersky Dom Vostok, a Tomsk-based confectionary. Sibirsky Bereg created and launched in the market popular croutons “Kirieshki”. KD Vostok has already purchase another popular snacks producer Bridgetown Foods.
Buyers from Tomsk don’t disclose details of the deal, but according to estimations in mass media, Sibirsky Bereg must cost around 200 million dollars. Former financial director of KD Vostok has already been appointed SB’s CEO.
Omsk-Singapore
Businessmen from Singapore express interest in the construction of airport Omsk-Fedorovka. The project of the new Omsk airport has been recently presented at a Construction Forum which was held in Singapore. For Asian companies Omsk-Fedorovka might become a convenient junction between Europe and Far East, Middle Asia and India.
Entrepreneurs from Singapore are also highly interested in the nanotechnologies developed in the region. They might well become one of the first customers of polycrystalline silicon factory, which is now under construction in Omsk region. Its silicon production capacity will make 6000 tons a year.
