Robbery case solved
District court convicted bank-robber Alexander Shurman to 8 years of imprisonment. This is the minimal term of imprisonment corresponding to this type of crime.
In June 2009 Alexander Shurman worked as a guard at the Savings Bank in Perm Region and robbed cash transit car stealing 250 million rubles. Militia was able to identify him and his helpers (friends and family members) quite soon, but officers failed to recover the full amount of stolen money.
The court also decided that Alexander Shurman should pay off missing money to the Savings Bank. The robber hopes to raise the required amount by publishing his memories of the robbery.

Alexander Kats, Perm’s city-manager, quit his position two weeks ago as a consequence of the tragic fire at a night club. On February 10, last week, the news arrived that Alexander Katz accepted invitation of the TGK-9 JSC (Territorial Power Generating Company affiliated with IES-Holding). He will enter the board of directors of the electricity company and will be responsible for energy-saving policy.
Acting city-manager at work
Acting city-manager of Perm Anatoly Makhovikov has re-distributed powers among his deputies. Thus, Igor Goncharov stayed in charge of the law-enforcement sector and additionally was commissioned to supervise ecology and nature use issues, and retail market development department.
Sergey Yuzhakov was commissioned to head the departments of utility services, utilities infrastructure, real estate relations and urban improvement.
Although the official sources refer these changes to the need of optimizing the work of the city departments, local experts are sure re-distribution of powers is a consequence of Anatoly Makhovikov getting higher status as an executive.
More news came in on Friday, February 12, 2010. Maxim Mezentsev quit his position as the first deputy director of the Healthcare Department of Perm. This removal was received as a logical measure after the federal medical commission severely criticized the work of the department in regard to the night club fire. Maxim Mezentsev became the head doctor of the City Clinical Hospital #1.
Regional administration
Acting vice-chairman of Perm’s Regional Duma Yury Utkin also moved to a different position – currently he is deputy head of the Governor’s Administration. As such, he has been commissioned to develop the once famous project of Belkomur. This is a new railway to connect the White Sea (Archangelsk Region), Komi Republic and the Urals.
