City Hall official taken in
Senior Specialist of the department of urban planning of Perm Evgeny Nazarkin was taken under arrest after receiving a bribe. The operation was conducted by the investigation service and local FSB. The department is responsible for the allocation of construction sites and therefore presents a high risk ground for corruption growth. Mayor’s administration promised to provide strict control over this department from now on.
Explosion
Container with carbon dioxide gas exploded accidentally at one of the Perm’s cafes on March 25, 2010. The container was held under the bar and when it blew up a woman sitting at the bar was killed immediately. The second injured woman died in a hospital several hours later. Forensic, medical and technical researches are conducted on the site.
Perm State University
Perm State University was admitted to the competition for the title of a National Research University. All higher education establishments winning this status will get substantial governmental funding for their research projects, equipment, internships, etc. There are 128 universalities competing for this title.
Town of Krasnokamsk
Water supply system of Krasnokamsk was restored. The water will be taken from the Chusovskaya water refining station and the operations will be financed by the regional budget. But the system of water pipes in the town must be renovated and modernized.
Sports records
Perms Football Club Amkar won in the match with FC Anji from Makhachkala scoring 1:0. Ivan Cherenkov injured his leg when shooting the only goal of the game and immediately went to Germany for medical examination and treatment.
Figure skaters from Perm, Vera Bazarova and Yury Larionov, took the 8th place at the World Championship in Turin, Italy.
Journalists’ Union
