Governor of Krasnodar Region Alexander Tkachev held a meeting of the regional Security Council last Wednesday to analyze the reasons of outrageous crime in Kuschevskaya community. 12 people including small children were murdered there.
“Violence of this crime absolutely puzzles. Especially taken that it took place in a stable, well off area which turned into one of the most dynamically developing communities in the past years”, the governor started.
Budget of Kuschevskaya community multiplied by three times, local farmers reached high volumes of crop production. Businessmen started investing money into modernization and extension of production. This year’s investments estimate 1.5 billion rubles. Kuschevskaya district is a large area with communities located far away from each other, but nonetheless possessing developed infrastructure, enough kindergartens, schools, sport facilities.
“People of Kuschevskaya community have jobs and have leisure facilities”, the governor concluded.
The head of Kuschevskaya district Vladimir Khanbekov and governor Alexander Tkachev both stated they were ready to resign if murderers were not found.
Last week two more members of the criminal group suspected in the crime were taken in at Rostov Airport.
According to old tradition, Cossack units are also held responsible for security of the region. Local dwellers of Kuschevskaya community now have doubts and claims in regard to Cossack effectiveness. Last week new Head of Cossacks in Krasnodar Region was elected. The rank was awarded to vice-governor Nikolai Doluda, who has been Cossacks’ hetman previous term.
Gazprom’s South Stream extends
Tuesday, November 16, Gazprom’s chief Alexey Miller and governor of Krasnodar Region Alexander Tkachev signed agreement of cooperation for the period of 2010-2014. Under the agreement Gasprom will extend its construction and renovation works to Krasnodar Region within its large South Stream gas project. Renovated and new electric power facilities will be included into the unified system of gas supplies of the region.
Mutual cooperation of the region and Gazprom will help provide enough of blue fuel for the Sochi 2014 Olympics, but also will be of high benefit to local people. Tuapse coastal area is gasified by 5 percent only. Gazprom’s program is expected to seriously improve the situation.
Rice industry
Rice producers of Krasnodar Region received awards for this year’s achievements. Rice grown in the region accounts for 900 thousand tons, which is over 100 thousand tons more than in 2009. Average harvest makes 68 metric quintals per hectare.
Potential of rice growing in the region is not yet fully acknowledged, the governor considers. There is more land and scientific achievements to actively employ by this industry.
Public picketing
Last week two picketing events were held by two different parties in front of the city administration on the same day, November 17, 2010.
People who are owners of new apartments tried to attract authorities’ attention to their problem. Although they own apartments on paper, in reality construction stopped, all deadlines were not met, as a result, people can’t move in. Current construction contractor is not the one that started the project, but contracts with apartment owners were not changed to include new construction contractor.
At the same time, interregional public organization “Orthodox Union” together with the young members of the movement “Young Russia” held another meeting to express protest against advertisements placed in the streets of the city which “insult moral foundations of the society”.
