Presidium of the regional government
Governor of Tyumen Region Vladimir Yakushev held a meeting of the Presidium of the regional government on May 25, 2009. The top politicians of the region discussed the long-term program “Main Directions of Land Development in Tyumen Region”. In 2009 87 hectares of land have been allocated for estate construction under this program. Over 10 hectares have been given to entrepreneurs, small and medium size businesses.
Innovations in economy
Tyumen hosted a Forum of technological parks and an exhibition “Technologies, Innovations of the 21st Century. Investments-2009. Intellectual Property”. The Forum gathered local politicians, regional state and municipal officials, entrepreneurs, CEOs of enterprises dealing with the development and implementation of innovation products and technologies.
Tyumen Region develops dynamically, implements priority national projects aiming at raising the quality of life of the people. Regional authorities are strongly interested in attracting innovations into the different spheres of the economy. Maximum use of innovative technologies and new approach to scientific research and practical application will help enterprises to grow, vice-governor of the region Sergey Sarychev pointed out.
Minister of Education and Science of Russia
Governor of the autonomous district Yugra Alexander Filipenko met with the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Andrey Fursenko. They discussed the problems of pre-school education for children and possible options of development such as opening special daycare groups for younger children at schools and making small-group private daycares legal entities. Special attention was paid to the problem of keeping the culture of the ethnic minorities of the North. The governor suggested that a new type of schools should be established for them to help preserve their culture, traditions and lifestyles which will employ specially trained teachers.
Megion
City Court of Megion ordered to dismiss the Head of Megion Alexander Kuzmin from the office on May 30, 2009. The cause for such measures has been laid by two criminal cases opened against Kuzmin accusing him of fraud and illegal use of the budget money. His deputy Igor Titorenko has been appointed acting Head of the city.
State Council Presidium
The President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev approved of the new members of the Presidium of the State Council on May 26, 2009. According to the new order the Presidium now includes governor of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Yury Neelov, governor of Voronezh Region Aleksey Gordeev, governor of Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleev, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, President of the Republic of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, governor of Amur Region Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Metvienko.
Yamal’s Gas Forum
Yamal’s Gas Forum was opened on May 27, 2009 under the agreement of cooperation between the administration of Yamalo-Nenets AD and OJSC Gazprom. The Forum included two scientific and practical conferences devoted to the future development and problems of the energy complex in circumpolar regions of Russia, a seminar regarding innovations and a round table on the development of gas deposits in the Far North. Two exhibitions also made part of the event – “Gas. Oil. New Technologies” and “Ecology. Nature Preservation. New Technologies”.
The Forum has become a comfortable platform for signing new contracts. Oil and gas producers of Yamal met with equipment and machine building companies representatives, geologists, constructors and scientists. The Regional Chamber of Trade and Commerce signed contracts with Chelybinsk inter-industry service center and Kachkanar Mining Equipment Repair Plant (Sverdlovsk Region). Foundation of Development of Noviy Urengoi signed one more agreement with the Chelyabinsk inter-industry service center.
Novatek got licenses
Federal Agency of Natural Resources Use issued 4 licenses to OJSC Novatek for the research and development of deposits in Yamalo-Nenets AD. Licenses have been issued in accordance with the Russian legislation due to the fact of discovery of the new deposits, avoiding competition and auction procedures.
