Tragic road accident
Sergey Spiridonov, Head of administration of Uporovsky area in Tyumen Region, died together with his son in a car crash Tuesday, August 5. Mr. Spiridonov spent his vacation together with his family in Orenburg Region and was driving back home in the family truck when a head-on collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser occurred. A front seat passenger of Toyota also died, Toyota’s driver and another passenger of Spiridonov’s car were hospitalized with dangerous traumas. Road inspection suggested that the Toyota’s driver caused the deathly collision.
New accident in a UTair aircraft
A UTair aircraft brought the company again to the top regional news. During a night from Moscow to Tyumen August 2 – August 3 thick smoke spread on board of the aircraft carrying about 150 people. Air hostesses offered passengers wet towels to help breathing, but could not explain where the smoke came from. The airplane landed safely. At the end of the flight none of the crew members gave any explanations or apologized. Passengers reported this accident to the Inspection of the air safety of the region.
UTair will conduct their own investigation, their first comments suggest trouble in the system of air conditioning.
Mrs. Nabiullina fulfilled her promise
Project Urals Industrial – Urals Polar was included into the countrywide federal project “Conceptions of long-term social economic development of the Russian Federation till 2020”. Inclusion was promised to the project’s curator Pyotr Latyshev by the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Elvira Nabiullina in July.
Innovative scenario of the development presumes that the future of the Urals Federal District will be connected with mineral resources excavation and processing, heavy machinery and transport machinery as well as facilitating professional resources.
Russian Olympic Team in Beijing
The XXIX Summer Olympics started in Beijing. 9 sportsmen from the Western Siberia joined the Russian team. Tyumen Region is home to two of them, Ivan Buzolin, track and field athlete, and Valery Martyshev, equestrian. Yamal sent a swimmer Ksenia Moskvina and a shooter Olga Desyatskaya.
Five sportsmen came from Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District: swimmer Svetlana Karpeeva, swimmer Aleksandr Tikhonov, judoist Vera Moskalyuk, weightlifter Oleg Perepechenov, famous volleyball player Vadim Khomutskih.
Total 52 sportsmen from the Urals Federal District joined the Russian Olympic Team this year.
Robinson R-44 remains under investigation
Interstate aviation committee continues investigation of the crash of the helicopter Robinson R-44. The helicopter was lost in March 2008 carrying two passengers on board, Aleksandr Smirnov, general director of CJSC AMK Vigas and his pilot Yury Yatsenko. There are two main directions for the investigation currently – technical trouble on board or pilot’s error that led to this crash. Onboard recorders can’t help because the construction of this aircraft does not include them.
It has already been identified that the flight of the helicopter was not properly authorized and its route was not reported to the navigation authorities.
Technical Park will open in Yugra
Aleksandr Filipenko, governor of Yugra, got acquainted with the conceptions of a technopark to be open in Khanty-Mansiisk in September this year. The complex of buildings will house scientific and production facilities and aims at combining efforts of purely scientific research and findings with the practical needs of energy producers.
Another ambitious project will soon be launched in Tyumen. The first section of the Western Siberian Innovation Center of Oil and Gas will soon be opened. The center will include information resource center, business-facilitator where new perspective ideas and businesses will be implemented, education center and conference hall. The created infrastructure is oriented to help develop small and medium size innovative businesses.
Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District also constructs its own technical park in Novy Urengoi. The purpose for this facility will be supporting and strengthening housing and utilities systems, construction industry, information technologies, energy production and energy saving, as well as supporting local traditional crafts.
