Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Eduard Rossel is the second richest governor in Russia. The first place went to the governor of Kaliningrad Region, according to the financial declarations disclosed by the top state officials. Income of Eduard Rossel in 2008 made 11 million 113 thousand rubles. He also owns two big houses, a summer house, and three large pieces of land. His wife also owns a big house and an apartment.
Eduard Rossel earned more money than the President and the Prime Minister of the country.
Dmitry Medvedev thinks that open disclosure of annual income and property reports should bring the state officials to serious consideration of the legality of their property and of the money they use to buy it.
Shanghai Organization of Cooperation Summit
The coming summit of SCO brings ever more troubles and inconveniences to the citizens of Ekaterinburg. The regional road inspection put forward the suggestion that all driving classes should stop at the time of the summit.
Office workers in the buildings in the close proximity to SCO events have already been offered to work from home or take days off work so that the government can protect potentially dangerous sites.
Meanwhile, SCO summit is a truly significant event for the Sverdlovsk Region and the whole of Russia.
Consular General of Germany Dr. Renate Schimkoreit says although Germany does not belong to SCO or BRIC the country is still very much interested in learning how the negotiations and meeting go and to see what results the summit brings.

Citizens of Ekaterinburg headed by the famous music group Chaif organized a protest event against demolition of historically valuable buildings. Modern construction in downtown has already destroyed several architectural landmarks of the nineteenth century.
VSMPO-AVISMA subsidiary
CJSC Tube Works VSMPO-AVISMA, subsidiary of the titanium holding, disclosed the financial information about its profits in the first quarter of 2009. Growth of production made 30.1%. The Tube Works located in the Ukraine manufactured 54.9 tons of titanium tubes. Sales of the products increased by 69.1 tons compared to the same period last year.
New equipment has been installed and launched in Q1 2009 including tube bender CE-51 (for the production of U-shaped tubes 6 to 51 mm in diameter), LOESER OD grinding machine, two PROMA belt-saws and an INSTRON tensile tester. More modernizations are on the way.
Social development of the enterprise is also going well. All the employees have medical insurance, are able to send their children to a summer camp on the Black Sea, get social and financial aid when necessary, the Tube Works reports.
