The President of Buryatia has found potential buyers for the international airport in Ulan-Ude. The Austrian owner Meinl Airports International is selling shares of the facility. International airport in Ulan-Ude
The government of Moscow announced its intention to purchase shares of the international airport Baikal in Ulan-Ude, Republic of Buryatia. The airport has been put up for sale by its current owner, Austrian company Meinl Airports International. The price is 5 million dollars. The President of the Republic Vyacheslav Nagovitsin offered Moscow to buy the facility and the response was positive.
Meinl Airports International bought 100 percent of shares of the international airport Baikal in August 2007. Shortly after the deal’s completion MAI representatives arrived in Buryatia to elaborate a plan of modernization of the airport. The concept of its development should have been ready by the middle of 2008. But at that time MAI experienced the change of ownership and the plans were not fulfilled.
Debt refinancing
The government of Irkutsk Region is going to issue government bonds totally costing 1.567 billion rubles. This measure will help refinance the region’s current debt and cover the budget deficit. The Ministry of Finance of Irkutsk Region gets ready for the auction to find the financial agent.
In 2009 the government of the region has taken loans under 18-20 percent of annual interest. Its new aim is to shift to loans with lower interest rate. Governmental debt of Irkutsk Region made 9.741 billion rubles as of September 1, 2009. It’s 24% less than at the beginning of 2009.
Governmental debt in bonds reduced from 7.26 to 5.55 billion rubles, to banks – from 4.75 billions to 3.25 billions.

Energy system of Khakasia
The government of Khakasia approved of the decision to establish a Coordination Council for the development of energy resources. The Council will focus on the unified strategy of energy system functioning in the Republic. It now includes 18 members: regional officials and energy sector professionals employed at Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant, KhakasEnergo and other related businesses.
The Coordination Council aims to give consultations to the government and monitor the situation in the energy complex of the Republic. Its creation is viewed as the response to the emergency at Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant, which demonstrated the region’s authorities’ unawareness of the real situation at the strategic energy objects.
