Hotel business
State Duma of Russia amended a legal act regulating classification of hotels of all types in Sochi in the period of 2011-2016. Before the amendment, certification of a hotel class was not compulsory. Now it is. It means that all types of hotels – from big networks to private mini-hotels – will have to undergo quality control and receive official “star” class.
At the moment there are only three 5-star hotels in Sochi with 388 rooms total. IOC recommended paying attention to this part of the Olympic preparations in advance.
On Thursday last week Gazprom announced of their plans to build another 5* hotel near Radisson Sas Lazurnaya. The project will cost about 3 billion rubles and include 65 luxury rooms, 3 president’s penthouses, 18 rooms of president’s class, helicopter landing sites, tennis courts, spa, hanging gardens, etc.
Olympic construction
Relocating people for the purposes of the Olympic construction has become one of the most burning issues in Sochi. Dwellers of the Imeretinskaya Lowland are asked to move and spare land for the construction of the Central Stadium of the Olympic Park.
People are offered two options. They can move to newly built houses in Nekrasovskoe community or receive financial reimbursement for leaving their homes. Both options are not accepted by the locals. They say that the houses built of polystyrol are not good for living, and that the reimbursement money is far below market prices for real estate.
Vice-president of the governmental corporation OlympStroi Viktor Pryadein met with the dwellers of the valley last week. Both parties, the government and people, can’t come to common ground. If the administration is left no choice, then the land will be exempted by a court decree.
Dwellers of the valley complain to IOC that their rights are being infringed. They think construction companies are just willing to make money and don’t care about common people. Local administration complains that these common people also want to make money taken their rather advantageous situation.
Negotiations
On Friday last week governor’s administration of Krasnodar Region decided to interfere with the conflict in the Imeretinskaya valley. Two vice-governors went to conduct negotiations.
According to the regional administration, some of the houses in Adler and Nekrasovskoe will be available for moving in this year.
