UralKali changes owners
June 14th UralKali JSC officially published an announcement confirming that its principle shareholder Dmitry Rybolovlev sold 53.2 of stock of the company to Suleiman Kerimov (25 %), Alexander Nesis (15 %) and Filaret Galchev (13.2 %).
Experts give positive assessment to this deal estimating its cost at 5.3 billion dollars. The opinion is that changes in shareholding structure will not influence operations or strategy of the company. Another thought of UralKali’s future presumes its possible merge with the second largest potassium chloride producer in Russia, Silvinit.
“New owners might succeed where ex-shareholder failed, namely to unite with Silvinit thus reaching significant synergic effect in management and sales”, The Bank of Moscow Senior Analyst Yury Volov comments.
Annual shareholders’ meeting of UralKali was held on June 18th in Berezniki, Perm Region. They approved the annual financial report and decided to distribute dividends for 2009 equaling 3.6 billion rubles (1.7 rubles per share). Board of Directors of the company was also elected.
A letter to Putin
Regional Duma has formed an official letter to Vladimir Putin asking to allot money for the repair of the regional highway 1R-242. The highway connects Perm with Ekaterinburg. It is a route with very intense traffic reaching 13-42 thousand vehicles a day. There are sections of the highway with 73-100 percent damage of the surface, which are badly in need of capital repair.
Russian Povera gets no award
Perm Regional Duma excluded Russian Povera contemporary art project from the list of annual award-winners in the sphere of culture and art of Perm Region. The project was presented by senator Sergey Gordeev and Marat Gelman.
Both the Exhibition and its organizers caused many local conservative-minded politicians to spoke out their disapproval. Exclusion from the list of award-winners has come as just another blow from this political wing.
The award was established by the governor of Perm Region Oleg Chirkunov who actively supports contemporary art projects. There have been 50 applicants this year. Regional ministry of culture commission selected 7 best.
Critique
Anonymous article criticizing regional governor’s work in a popular newspaper exploded the public space last week. Oleg Chirkunov is said to have driven the region into a dark economic and social depression, various stages of which are colorfully presented.
Oleg Chirkunov immediately commented on the article in his personal blog saying it has been long expected and that “clever readers” will understand.
