New bribery case
The head of Krasnokamsk area of Perm Region Dmitry Markelov was taken in while receiving a bribe. Preliminary investigation report states that the official asked 400 thousand rubles for influencing allotment land lots. Criminal case has been opened. Dmitry Markelov is detained.
Election rules
Perm Regional Duma reviews draft amendment to the law on electing deputies to the Regional Duma. It is offered to introduce the so-called mixed system, where 30 deputies are elected through single mandates and 30 deputies are elected through the political parties’ lists.
The draft was adopted in the first reading. The second reading is scheduled for March.
Countering corruption
Last week governor of Perm Region Oleg Chirkunov suggested a new goal to a number of law enforcement services. The heads of militia, federal security service Perm division, investigative office and drug traffic control service went to Lysva, Perm Region, to set up measures against corruptionists. The heads of the agencies met with the mayor of Lysva and then spoke with the public.
Culture comittee
Lyubov Fedorova quit her position was the head of Culture Committee of Perm’s administration on Jan 17, 2011. The position has been temporarily assigned to Irina Durneva.
