Misharin’s pride amidmost the scandal
Last week a great scandal erupted in the Middle Urals around one of the strategic enterprises of the Sverdlovsk Region - Pervomaisky flour mill. In 2009 it was opened with the participation of ex-Governor Alexander Misharin and became one of the most modern plants in the Region. Last week Russian Technical Supervisory Authority issued instructions to the plant managment to eliminate violations of safety-related production, and has temporarily suspended its work. Laying-off production at Pervomaisky flour mill was the cause of the conflict between his staff and management.
A criminal case regarding equestrian sport complex «Riphean» commenced in the Chelyabinsk Region
July 31, it was announced that the Investigative Committee opened a criminal investigation regarding the fraud in the construction of equestrian sport complex «Riphean». According to investigators, the damage amounting to more than 300 million rubles was caused «by the fraudulent acts of officials of the regional administration and developers enterprises» to the regional budget for the period from 2008 to 2010.
Ugra businessmen will choose their own ombudsman
On Wednesday, August 1, the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova announced a public review of the candidates for the post of Regional Ombudsman for businessmen rights. Voting will take place in two stages. In the first stage, each municipal council with the support of entrepreneurs, the district council and specialized non-governmental organizations and associations will propose one of their candidates. Simultaneously, the self-promoted application will be accepted. A special commission will evaluate them for compliance with eligibility requirements and will make the final single selection list.
In the second stage applicants will meet with businessmen in five to seven territories in the municipalities. Following the meeting, participants will fill in voting papers and vote for the candidates. The Commission will identify and summarize ratings of the most respected candidates. Of these, the governor will appoint a Regional Commissioner.
Foreigners have invested in another Kurgan Plant
A new plant opened in Kurgan, this time for the production of oil field equipment and tools –«Varel NTS» LLC. Investor is a U.S. company Varel International, known for manufacturing drilling equipment and tools Varel for drilling oil wells and mining. Company’s Vice-President Bernard Pontono attended the opening ceremony.
