New senator appointed
Ex-mayor of Perm Igor Shubin has been promoted to take senator’s seat in the Council of the Federation. Regional Duma deputies approved him for this position last week.
New senator will contribute to making Perm a “cultural capital of Europe” and to the construction of Belkomur railway (White Sea – Komi District - Urals).
Vice-chairman of the City Duma Igor Sapko has been appointed acting head of Perm temporarily.
Perm Regional Duma elected one of two vice-speakers. Igor Papkov became the first vice-speaker with 44 votes for and 7 against. The second vice-speaker’s seat remains empty.
City Duma dismissed
Aleksandrovsk City Duma was dismissed on December 16th by the decision of Perm Regional Duma.
Head of the governor’s office Firdus Aliev explains that the reason for such a decision is systematic negligence of duties by the Duma deputies and group interests.
Perm’s General Plan
Perm City Duma approved General Plan of Perm’s Urban Development on December 17, 2010.
This project received high assessments by the professionals. In summer this year it was awarded Grand Prix of the Moscow Architectural Biennale. Ministry of Regional Development of Russia also gave positive comments after reviewing the project.
Perm sends company to Skolkovo
Satellite Innovation LLC, a company established in Perm, has become a resident of Skolkovo, Russia’s silicon valley.
This company develops software for the clever IP-video surveillance systems. System of indexing of video material allows locating objects according to their parameters. This concept is the basis for the first Russian software for IP-cameras reducing equipment costs by 4-5 times.
Soil subsidence in Berezniki
Soil subsidence in Berezniki can be soon filled in. Administration of the city says it is one of the possible options.
Additionally, monitoring of the ground surface stability will be continued around living estate close to the current subsidence.
The soil collapse occurred on November 25th under industrial railways connecting mining and production facilities of UralKali JSC, leading potassium producer.
The size of the hole today makes 60 by 37 meters, according to the information of the administration of Berezniki.
