The rest 630 kilometers will require 10 billion rubles investment from the federal budget in 2010.

Viktor Ishaev noted that the level of unemployment in the regions of the Far East Federal District had lessened – from 3.7% to 3.2%. However it is still higher than Russia’s average (2.8%).

All the regions of the Federal District are implementing employment stimulation programs and back pay elimination measures. Thus, back pay amounted to 1.3 billion rubles in June, but now it’s two times less – 635 million rubles. There are no back pay problems in Chukotka Autonomous District and Jewish Autonomous Region.

Big investment programs (gas trunk pipeline Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok and oil network Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean) and governmental orders (Sukhoi Superjet 100) considerably help to support the economy of the Far East.

Far East Railways

Railway of the Far East faces serious troubles. There are at least 72 cars with cargo which can’t move on in the direction of the port. The problem aroused with cars transporting coal, oil products and metal. Although the railway’s capacity is quite enough, infrastructure of the seacoast ports is far less capable.

The main reasons for slow transportation are the lack of workers, insufficient off-loading equipment, as well as slow paperwork processing. However, both Far East Railways and the authorities of the Far East Federal District understand that the development of transport system is one of the key components of the economic success.
