Facilitated growth
Ministry of Regional Development of Russia will create zones of facilitated economic growth, confirmed Sergey Yurgapov, deputy minister, at the 4th Far East International Economic Forum. In particular, the ministry plans to focus on Eastern Siberia. An industrial zone there will contain mining and metal processing complexes, timber facilities, construction materials plants and animal farms.
Federal special purpose programs will serve as the main mechanism for the strategic development of Siberia and the Far East. The government is deciding to prolong the programs’ terms until 2018 and in the future – until 2025.
Special economic zone
A company from South Korea, Iljin Construction, might be a new investor of the SEZ Baikal Harbor. Representatives of the company met with the Republic of Buryatia administration to get acquainted with the project.
Natural resources of Baikal area
Last week Irkutsk Region held a big exhibition devoted to the natural resources of Siberia “Ecology. Business. Natural Resources Use”. It gathered all of natural resources user of the Russia, operating in the region.
The regional authorities expressed serous concern about irrational use of the resources and the gap between the volume of production and the potential of the mineral resources deposits. There are about 40 billion rubles value of raw materials extracted annually in Irkutsk Region. While the total volume of resources ready for the industrial development accounts for 3.2 trillion dollars.
The biggest deposits of Irkutsk Region are Kovykta and Sukhoi Log. But the region looks for responsible investors as opposed to those just looking for quick enrichment.
News from Khakasia
Head of Khakasia Viktor Zimin returned from a trip to Moscow with good news for the local citizens. Electric energy tariffs will not be raised in the Republic until the end of 2010. He also underlined that Khakasia would not experience any energy supplies problems because of the emergency at Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant.
Aluminum Plants of Khakasia and Sayanogorsk will also reach their designed capacities, since MRSK-Siberia promised to provide enough electricity power, said Viktor Zimin.
